Post Pandemic Practices
The global coronavirus pandemic has raised everyone's awareness of infectious and contagious diseases. We see a lot of people during the course of a week, so we will do our best to protect you, and we ask for the same courtesy in return. We will typically wear a mask if we are coming into your home. For an outdoor appointment, we don't require masks. Client mask use is at their discretion. We do however ask that if you or someone you've been exposed to is sick with COVID, the Flu, or a cold, to let us know and to give us appropriate space.
If you have any questions regarding these protocols or any others that we have in place please don't hesitate to reach out (860) 420-5002. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Another great long weekend of learning in Portland Maine. I got to learn about animal behavior and livestock facility design from the legendary Temple Grandin. Had a day of updates on equine medical issues, including colic and lameness, from the team at Myhre Equine Clinic. Wrapped it up with a review of small ruminant medicine with Dr Dusty Nagy.
Roosty got attacked by a raccoon when he was trying to save his hen. He was gone for 3 days then made his way back home. Swipe left for swarming maggot video 😁🪰
Teamwork made the dream work today. Drs Thibeault and Johnson and Abby worked together to get a calf out of this momma today. It was stillborn so not a completely happy ending, but the cow should be ok.
Talked with some 7th and 8th grade kids today about a career in veterinary medicine. Hard to go wrong with videos of pig wrestling and a juicy cow abscess.

Many people in our practice have backyard goats that they use for breeding and milking. There are lots of steps involved with these processes and if you are just starting out having a veterinarian come look at your setup is always a good idea. Head over to our Facebook page to read the whole thing! #goatweek
Most pigs don’t volunteer for their exams so instead our doctors keep their ninja skills sharp. Here you see Dr. T and Alex taking down one of our more challenging patients. 🐽 #pigweek
What does my annual appointment entail?
In the next few weeks we will be covering the common things that our doctors evaluate in annual appointments for each species. We want this to be educational and recognize that not everyone has experience with all the species that we treat. Please feel free to ask lots of questions along the way!
